Dengar berita ini jadi miris…

Di bulan Ramadhan, di mana segala amal nilainya jadi berlipat-lipat, gak cuma jadi double, bisa jadi triple bahkan multiple, banyak orang berlomba jadinya. Salah satunya ini.

Maksud hati cari pahala dan ridha Allah, malah jadi petaka. 21 wanita di Pasuruan tewas lemas karena tergencet dan kekurangan oksigen pada saat pembagian sedekah.

Entah karena tidak ada sistem pembagian yang terencana atau karena nafsu orang-orang yang kepengen dapat sedekah. Jadilah si tragedi itu menimpa mereka.

Saya tidak akan mencari siapa yang salah dari kejadian ini. Hanya mau menyampaikan, betapa 30.000 rupiah itu bisa menjadi harga nyawa seseorang.

Tadi malam Amazing Race Asia 3 premiere di AXN. Kali ini tidak ada peserta dari Indonesia. Well, so what??

Ada peserta dari suatu negara mana saya belum hafal. Mereka berdua kakak beradik, yang laki namanya Henry, yang perempuan Bernie. Dengan tegas pada saat interview perkenalan, mereka bilang kalau mereka adalah orang-orang kompetetif, mereka ikut Amazing Race Asia hanya untuk menang dan bukan untuk cari teman.

Well, it got me thinking…

Actually, there’s nothing wrong with that. I mean, datang untuk menang memang seharusnya. Tidak mau make friends juga adalah hak mereka. Yang agak ganggu adalah sifat mereka yang kompetetif itu.

Bagi saya sifat itu terlalu agresif, sangat kurang humble dan dipenuhi oleh aura nafsu yang jadinya lebih ke arah negatif alias mengahalalkan segala cara. Biasanya kalau gagal, mereka jadinya frustasi. Kebanyakan ini dimiliki oleh orang-orang kholeris. Well, I’m mostly choleris, but so what??

I used to be a competitive person, and it’s freaking tiring! Always compete, in anything! Walaupun lagi tidak dalam rangka pertandingan or whatsoever. Otomatis rasa persaingan itu selalu ada.

Well, probably the world still needs those kinds of people…

Sangat berbeda dengan pemenang Amazing Race Asia tahun lalu, saya lupa nama mereka. Mereka banyak dijagokan karena struggle so hard, punya self drive tinggi namun tidak agresif dan sangat humble.

These kinds of people are supposed to be the ones who rule the world!

One of the most eagerly awaited films of the year is Guy Ritchie's latest crime caper, "RocknRolla" - a fast-talking, plot-driven, hilarious stunner of a film that will blow audiences away as long as they pay close attention to the film's crazy plot.

In a nutshell, a Russian mobster orchestrates a crooked land deal, putting millions of dollars up for grabs and attracting all of London's criminal underworld led by the amoral Lenny Cole [Tom Wilkinson], the ambitious One Two [Gerard Butler] and a crooked, cold, sexy accountant [Thandie Newton].

To try and explain these characters' connections would take up more space than is possible here, but suffice it to say, the film's ending, in true Ritchie style, is the ultimate payoff. "RocknRolla" is very British, and while a major Hollywood studio is releasing it, Ritchie has refused to tone it down, from language to violence.

This film shows what a remarkable filmmaker Ritchie is, from the way he audaciously uses editing, as he cuts from character to character and scene to scene. This is a sharp, fast and kinetic work, a film that is a visual feast, and also a masterpiece of dialogue and character.

Wilkinson steals the film as the underworld figure that epitomizes manipulation. He is simply magnificent, relishing the character and chewing the scenery at every turn. Butler is droll and charming, while Newton is exquisite as Stella. Full of wonderful villainy, this is cinematic gangsterism as only Ritchie can convey, pulling apart the mythology of the genre and contemporary London. "RocknRolla" is a stunningly mesmerising and exhilarating entertainment not to be missed. (Source: DarkHorizons)

British pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS is "gutted" after a bad knee forced him to pull out of his own charity football match.The former Take That singer organised Soccer Aid 2008 in aid of Unicef and drafted in World Cup players and celebrities including Jesse Metcalfe for the game. And Williams is devastated that he won't be able to participate in the event.

He says, "Being able to help so many people through Soccer Aid was one of the true highlights of my life. I'm gutted that this time round my knee isn't up to it so unfortunately I'm out of the game. But I hope that everyone involved has the time of their life like I did, raises loads of money for Unicef and that the best side wins."

JENNIFER ANISTON recently had dinner with her ex-husband BRAD PITT for the first time since their split. The couple, whose divorce was finalised in 2005, reportedly had a business meeting in Toronto, Canada last week while they were both in the city for the International Film Festival. Female First magazine notes that the pair ate at Brad's hotel.The publication adds that prior to the meeting, Jennifer was said to be "terrified" of bumping into her former flame.

"Her people are checking and double checking her schedule to make sure she doesn't go within a mile of Brad, let alone bump into him," a source told the magazine.

Jennifer is at the festival promoting her new movie MANAGEMENT while Brad is publicising his latest endeavour BURN AFTER READING.

Meanwhile, Jennifer recently made a return to the small screen with an appearance in the hit sitcom 30 ROCK.The former FRIENDS star plays the former roommate of TINA FEY's character and referred to filming the show as "the time of my life", reports Access Hollywood. (Source: ContactMusic)

kisah di bis

Baru sekali-kalinya nih…

Pulang kantor kemarin sore. Jam 16.30. Tidak perlu menunggu lama, bis patas AC tujuan Senen melaju lambat di depan gedung kantor saya. Tanpa ragu saya naik. Walaupun agak muter sedikit (lewat Monas dan Juanda) tapi saya sama sekali gak keberatan. Murah! Hanya 3.000 perak, gak banyak penumpang dan tanpa macet pula!

Tumben-tumbennya kemarin itu, ngantuk banget! Buku yang saya baca juga gak sanggup saya habiskan barang satu halaman pun. Sudah bulat akhirnya tekad saya kemarin itu untuk tidur. Melesat langsung ke fase tidur nyenyak. Sempat terbangun di tikungan Juanda – Harmoni. Terus.. bablas lagi.

Tiba-tiba.. Terkejut.. Terjaga..
Saya dibangunkan oleh ibu-ibu, karena ternyata bis sudah di Terminal Senen! Hahahaha… Saya sampai geli sendiri kalau ingat.

Baru beberapa hari yang lalu ada sesuatu yang masih agak nyangkut di pikiran saya. Di bis yang sama, terminal yang sama juga, ketika penumpang sibuk antri untuk turun, ada mba’-mba’ yang masih tertidur dengan damainya di bangku. Saya ragu, bangunin gak ya?? Takut salah, siapa tau mba’ itu masih mau lanjut dari Terminal Senen pakai bis itu. Rasa ragu dan takut salah menang. Akhirnya malah gak saya bangunin. (Walaupun yakin sih, dia ada yang bangunin or mungkin bangun sendiri, eventually)

Ternyata rasa gak sreg saya terjawab kemarin, dengan ibu itu yang memutuskan untuk membangunkan saya. Ragu dan takut salah langkah.. what a misleading feeling!
