Sex 'N The City: Coming Soon!

Menunggu tayangnya film yang satu ini terasa lama banget buat saya. Rumors-nya SNTC akan tayang worldwide tanggal 30 May 2008 kemarin. Tapi, gak jadi. Rumors-nya, untuk beli tiketnya juga udah harus indent. Ini juga hanya rumor belaka.

Udah keburu pusing saya nungguinnya.

Akhirnya, ada berita kalau SNTC akan midnight tanggal 14 Juni nanti. Jadi kemungkinan besar akan turun ke jam tayang regular the week after. Haha!! Udah sibuk saya mikir bagaimana cara supaya tiket bisa dibeli lebih cepat, tanpa harus deg-degan takut gak kedapetan tiket.

Teman saya sempat dengan hebohnya mempromosikan serial ini ke saya. Penolakan demi penolakan saya berikan ke teman saya itu. I’ve seen the advertisement in my cable, and I think he’s a jerk, he’s ugly also.

Sampai pada suatu malam, saya belum bisa tidur. Acara-acara di cable gak ada yang menarik (hmmm..sepertinya sama dengan alasan saya nonton Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang), dan hanya House MD yang layak di saksikan. Akhirnya dengan tanpa niat dan agak sedikit bersikap melecehkan, House MD menjadi tontonan saya malam itu.

Oh My God! He is a jerk!! Hmmm…a smart jerk, actually. Wow! A genius?? Why does he always right?

Sepertinya memang menarik…

Saya kuatkan nyali saya untuk meminjam dvd teman saya itu. Dan belagunya, dia hanya tersenyum, tanpa mentertawakan saya seperti biasanya. It’s an ‘I told u so’ smile..damn!!

House season 1, 2, 3 mengalir begitu saja seperti tanpa jeda. Sepertinya suami saya jadi eneg liat saya manteng di depan TV terus.. :p. I’m a bit obsessed, I think. Saya suka banget sama theme song-nya, yang kemudian saya download dari internet, yang kemudian juga teman saya itu jadi marah-marah kenapa harus saya yang dapetin theme song itu, padahal dia duluan yang suka House (:P)

Memang film seri ini sangat berfokus sama Dr. Gregory House, dari judulnya aja udah ketauan kali gak? (hehe..). House adalah manusia dengan kepribadian unik. Bukan unik dalam arti eksentrik. He’s a master of self-centered people, a drug addict doctor, very outspoken, one limp narcistic guy, straight forward, annoyingly stubborn and brutally funny.

Sampai dijuluki ‘One Sick Bastard’ sama anak buahnya!

But…
He’s also a genius. Good in piano, guitar, chess (??), even magic. He’s one of the best diagnostician in the world, but always seems to be able to obtain loans from his best friend (where does all the money go, anyway?). House selalu mencari-cari waktu, bahkan skips his duties, hanya untuk nonton General Hospital, yang cleverly, dia tonton dari kamar pasien yang udah sekarat.

Etc..etc..etc..

Now I’m falling in love with this character. Hugh Laurie benar-benar mampu menjadikan House diingat akan ke-rese’annya. Pantas kalau dia diganjar habis-habisan oleh berbagai award academies untuk perannya di sini.

This is a year 2005 production, by the way...

First time I heard about this movie, I was like, wondering, what kind of movie is this? The title is just ridiculous.. Also starring Val Kilmer, whom I don’t really fond of. Although the other guy is Robert Downey Jr, whom, I like very much, but still.. I didn’t have the intension to watch this one.

Until one day.. I didn’t have a decent movie to watch, and I got bored. The only possible movie to watch in my cable was this movie. What was I suppose to do?

Now, I can’t get enough of it..

Downey is Harry Lockhart who steals for a living, an amateur. With luck, a bit skill in acting and, once again, with luck, he ended up as a trainee actor in Hollywood.

Gay Perry (Kilmer), gay of course, a friend of Harry’s founder, is a private “honest to God” detective. He is asked to give detective training to Harry.

Harmony (Monaghan) is an actress wannabe from Indiana who successfully starred one national TV commercial, and that’s it. She ended up being a catering and a bar waitress. She also turned out to be Harry’s childhood friend and first love.

The detective training trapped Harry and Perry in a real murder case, connected to Harmony, a big Hollywood producer and Harmony’s sister.

Robert Downey Jr, as usual, plays amazingly remarkable, funny like hell (well, although I don’t think hell is funny) and geniusly entertaining. He narrates the film amusingly. Michelle Monaghan is not so bad also, naturally brings Harmony’s sexy character. Surprisingly, I love..love..and love Val Kilmer in this movie. He performed smartly as a gay guy.

Downey was nominated, as usual again, for Satellite Award with the categories of Outstanding Actor in Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical and for Outstanding Original Song in 2005.

I gotta say, this is a smart, hilarious, entertaining simple movie with a not very important story. Shane Black beautifully wrapped this one. A highly recommended film!!

So what??? I know they’re gonna split anyway.. She’s just not his type (well, seems like). But George is not mature enough to dump her at the first place, just because the accident. Feel bad George? I don’t think it’s your fault anyway.. accident happens, man.. so what??? That’s called destiny, by the way. You were waiting to be dumped by her? That’s not mature.

BTW, I always know that you will quit her, like I know that Brad and Jen will be together again (am I crazy or what??). I don’t really care, I hate that she-devil carrying Brad’s baby or babies (?).

So Dear George.. have fun hunting, I know you'll find better one..
